Ruthin Flower Show

Chairman’s Welcome

Chairman’s Welcome

We have held the Show for 2022, and have already started planning for the 2023 show. Hopefully once again we can put on a friendly family show to give you all a great day out on the 19th August 2023.

Moving Forward

Putting on the 2022 show presented some difficulties after the long gap. We also needed to have a new website. It was well designed by doodleit and we have had a lot of positive comments about the site. Thank you Peter and Anthony. However it all came together and we had an excellent show with good weather – entries to the classes were high in number and standard and the horse and dog shows continue to get really positive comments. I would like to thank the committee for their dedicated and hard work to bring the show in on time with only 6 months to do it in. Next of course I thank the volunteers who are so essential in doing the hard work setting the show up and helping on show day. Then there are the judges, the stewards, the advertisers and the donors. It all comes together to make an excellent team. But of course the real thanks are to those of you who come on the day to support us, and to enjoy a really sociable event.

Planning has already started for the 2023 show. For the moment I am leaving the schedules of classes that we worked to at our show in 2022 on the website to give you an idea of what to grow and prepare for. There will be a few changes but they will be minor, and may include a change of title for some classes. There will not be any chickens on display again this coming year. Over the coming months sub groups will work on each section and update the classes. There will be new titles for the photography for example. As they are done the new sections will be put onto the website and these comments will change when the job is completed.

We have updated our contact page and would welcome a lot of people to come and join us. We would especially like to have some younger people join us. We need an enthusiast to manage our website by working with Peter and Anthony. We would also appreciate some younger elements to take over the running of the Show Facebook page. The younger element would give us some much needed new ideas.

On the subject of volunteers we are always keen to have committee support with planning for each show and also help setting the show itself up on the day before and on show day so we are totally ready for our visitors. I am sure that we can find something of interest, from pets to flowers, from horses to dogs, cars and tractors. All these need stewards so there is plenty to chose from and we do try to really look after our volunteers. We also want to provide a varied display of stands and exhibits in the field. Please get in touch and offer your help.
